Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a young boy Boyd Batterman remembers working alongside his father who worked as a brick mason. Since then, Boyd knew he had a passion for the construction industry and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. With over 38 years of building experience, Boyd became a founding partner of BIC Construction in 2017. When he’s not working on a project, Boyd enjoys spending his time hunting, fishing and reading.
We Asked Boyd:
If you could be any piece of construction equipment, what would it be and why?
Scaffolding because I enjoy supporting other co-workers to advance their careers.
What motivates you?
People. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a work-life than to share it with people you care for. Going home tired and feeling accomplished is gratifying.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone interested in construction?
Learn a trade and pour yourself into it.
If you are a sports fan, what’s your favorite team?
The Milwaukee Brewers. I spent 40-years with my father fishing at Lake Michigan just north of Milwaukee and started following the Brewers.
What is your favorite part about construction?
I enjoy working with a team of like-minded individuals using their talents to serve others.
